UNC Asheville recognizes disability as a valued aspect of diversity. As a campus, we understand access as a matter of social justice, and strive to design more welcoming and inclusive environments. The Office of Accessibility works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure that all aspects of campus life — learning, working, and living — are accessible. The Office provides the University community with resources, education, innovative programming, and direct services in order that people with disabilities may have a greater opportunity to achieve social justice and equity. Students who request accommodations and/or academic adjustments due to a disability are responsible for knowing and following the policies and procedures of the Office of Accessibility.

For Campus Visitors

UNC Asheville is committed to providing universal access to all of our events. When planning an event, Event Coordinators should contact the Office Institutional Integrity and Access to discuss and request appropriate accommodations for the program or event. If you have any questions about access or to request reasonable accommodations that will facilitate your full participation in University-sponsored events, such as ASL interpreting or captioning, please email Heather L. Lindkvist (hlindkvi@unca.edu), Assistant Vice Chancellor for Institutional Integrity and Access, to discuss the requested accommodations. Please note that advance notice is necessary to arrange for accessibility needs. We will attempt to implement late requests but cannot guarantee they will be met.
