The Cost of Attendance (COA) is an estimate designed to help students determine what it may cost to attend UNC Asheville for an academic year. It is not an actual or final amount. The Cost of Attendance is used to calculate your initial financial aid package.
2024-25 Annual Direct Costs
Direct costs are the expenses that are billed to the student by the university, including tuition, fees, housing, and dining services:

2024-25 Annual Direct & Indirect Costs
Indirect costs are expenses a student will likely incur, but will not pay to the University. Indirect costs vary from student to student and may include personal expenses, transportation, books, supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses. Direct and indirect costs total:
- In-state: $26,007 ($4,514 indirect costs estimate)
- Out-of-state: $44,205 ($5,364 indirect costs estimate)

Residence Hall Fees
Please note all first-year students are required to live on campus their first academic year, or if coming in as a new student for spring semester, the entire spring semester. The live-on-campus requirement also applies to students who were early/middle-college attendees. Limited exceptions apply.
