Faculty partners are a crucial part of helping facilitate career development for students. The Career Center actively seeks opportunities to better support faculty and staff in and out of the classroom. We would love to connect with you to learn about your courses and discuss how we can leverage our resources and services to support the work you are doing with students.
Classroom Presentations & Workshops
The Career Center offers a wide range of classroom presentations and workshops that faculty can request. This is a great option if you want to incorporate a guest speaker, or special topic, or have a day where you can’t attend class.
Tech Tools for Your Courses
Moodle
The Career Center now offers faculty a Moodle Page with career and professional development assignments that you can copy into your own Moodle pages. This page also includes classroom activities, resources, and a list of our upcoming events. To request access, email Lauren DeHaan at ldehaan@unca.edu.
Ask a Bulldog
Encourage your students to connect with UNC Asheville alumni to network and learn more about different career journeys. Reaching out to alumni is easy with Ask a Bulldog. Students can login and ask alumni any question about career development and alumni will personally reach out and answer.
Big Interview
Students can practice interviewing and receive immediate feedback through the use of AI or instructor feedback. One of the great features about Big Interview is that assignments can be created and given to groups of students. To use this in your class, please email us, and we can help you login and set up your assignments.
GoinGlobal
Students who are interested in an international internship or work experience can use this platform to search for opportunities. Goin Global includes guides for work requirements and the application process in different countries. Students, staff, and faculty can access this tool within OnePort or online.goingglobal.com.
Curriculum Integration
We are here to help faculty think through how to integrate career readiness into their course curriculum. Below are a few strategies that other faculty have used:
- Extra credit for attending Career Center events and workshops
- Visiting the Career Center during class.
- Assignments requiring resume or cover letter review by the Career Center.
- Connecting with employers for panels or guest speakers.
- Adding Career Center information in course syllabi.
There are many more ways to integrate various career related topics into the curriculum, and we look forward to supporting you in the process. Reach out to us for more ideas and support.
