Welcome to the Office of Accessibility
UNC Asheville recognizes disability as a valued aspect of diversity. As a campus, we understand access as a matter of social justice, and strive to design more welcoming and inclusive environments. The Office of Accessibility works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure that all aspects of campus life — learning, working, and living — are accessible. The Office provides the University community with resources, education, innovative programming, and direct services in order that people with disabilities may have a greater opportunity to achieve social justice and equity. Students who request accommodations and/or academic adjustments due to a disability are responsible for knowing and following the policies and procedures of the Office of Accessibility.
For Students
Whether you’re new to our office or new to UNC Asheville, welcome! If you would like to request accommodations, your first step is to submit the Online Application and submit the accompanying Documentation. If you’ve already registered with our office, log in to Bulldog Access to send your Letters of Accommodation, request new accommodations, submit a testing request, view notes submitted by a student note taker, and more. For additional information on accommodations and to view our FAQs, please see More Information.
For Employees
UNC Asheville is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities. If you are an employee who would like to request workplace accommodations, please contact the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Institutional Integrity & Access via email at hlindkvi@unca.edu or by phone at (828) 232-5658.
To view additional information about workplace accommodations, please review the Disabilities and Reasonable Accommodations in Employment policy.
For Campus Visitors
UNC Asheville is committed to providing universal access to all of our events. When planning an event, Event Coordinators should contact the Office Institutional Integrity and Access to discuss and request appropriate accommodations for the program or event. If you have any questions about access or to request reasonable accommodations that will facilitate your full participation in University-sponsored events, such as ASL interpreting or captioning, please email Heather L. Lindkvist (hlindkvi@unca.edu), Assistant Vice Chancellor for Institutional Integrity and Access, to discuss the requested accommodations. Please note that advance notice is necessary to arrange for accessibility needs. We will attempt to implement late requests but cannot guarantee they will be met.
